FREEDOM The loaded silences caused the steps to be heard louder that before. The fear in me spread like a fire in a dry bush. I was sweating bullets as I stumbled towards the sound of his voice. The usual motionless face turned into black suspicion within seconds. "I did not take the money in the safe," forcing the words through my teeth. I vaguely remembered that a sarcastic smile was plastered on his face and the look in his eyes caused me a light shudder. I knew that at this point of time, even if the word I say were nothing but the truth, he will still suspect that I am the culprit. All that went through my mind was the freedom from labelled guilt I will attain one I make a dash for the door. It would definitely change the path of my life, for the better. I wanted freedom from my step-father more than anything else in the world. Whenever something arouses his suspicions, I would be the first person to appear in his accusing mind. Even he, my step-father, has no rights to treat me like dirt. He stood infront of me, demanding an answer. I was lost for words as he shouted a handful of accusations. I could no longer respect him. He was not worth it, not a bit. I stood up, staring at him and shouted," I am a person with feeling and a sense of pride, when did you ever spare a thought for me? I am your step-daughter, your daughter, but you treat me just like soil. All you do is accusing me for other people’s misdeeds." I dashed for the door of my freedom as tears of joy poured down my cheeks. The freedom I yearned for years is finally here. Labels: 15 phrases essay Posted by ShAnNoN at |
