"I'd vote for Shannon to be the emcee for the upcoming Speech Day!" exclaimed Ariel, raising her hand up high, trying to capture Mrs Tan's attention.

"Mrs Tan, I can't do it. I have stage fright and whenever I am up on stage, I will laugh, uncontrollably. It has been tested and proven before!" I said, frantically, convincing my teacher that it is a disasterous idea for me to be an emcee.

My violent objection was rejected and I was appointed to become the emcee for Speech Day.

The day arrived dreadfully faster than I have expected. My palms felt clamy and my feet barely left the ground, dragging, as if trying to delay the arrival of the forseen disaster.

As I walked up the stage, the audiences were silent. I could even hear my own footsteps. Pairs of eyes looking at me by the hundreds, caused me to blank out. I peeked at the small script that covered my palm and opened my mouth and hope dearly that nothing wrong would me pronounced. However, to my horror, familar bouts of laughter were heard. I was unable to control my laughter and everyone stared at me.

My heart pounded as murmers of comments buzzed by my ears as I questioned myself continuously, 'why can't I stop laughing?'
